If I ask what is wrong and you say 'nothing' I will act like nothing is wrong. I know you are lying but it is not worth the hassle.

The Club is run by the Disabled for the Disabled. We are a registered charity and is organised by volunteers. Disabilities, religion and all sections of society are accepted. Even the medical officer has had polio.

The Club was formed to arrange holidays as we all felt that we could help reduce the cost by group booking holidays ourselves without the need for a commercial firm.
We have benifited from this by organising a holiday to Austria for half the price some companies who provide Holidays for the disabled . Our holidays are designed for a person who is visually impaired, totally deaf, or in a wheelchair, to come along and have a good holiday on their own provided they can look after themselves. Or of course they can bring a carer, family or friends with them at their own expense.

We have a minibus that we use for day trips and local events usually ending in a meal at varius selected resturants that are very reasonably priced. This would benefit people local to leicester mostly but if you are on route to a destination we may be able to fit you in.

All hotels are level access and we may be able to provide special wheelchair rooms. These depend on the demand and the hotel. Each holiday is organised with the people going in mind and we contact each person individually to ascertain their specific needs. Prices are based on twin rooms and there is usually a charge for single rooms.

At the request from members we produce a quarterly newsletter, organise days out and social meetings throughout the year but these are not subsidised.

We have been arranging holidays now both in the UK and abroad for around fifteen years. We have gained a lot of information and experience.

We try to pick the best value for money and usually use a mobility coach or minibus. We do regular collection days to subsidise the cost of helpers and transport. We usually have about two helpers per holiday to help with luggage etc and load the coach. The Irish holiday complies with ABTA bonding regulations as all cash is paid via the tour operator.

We ask for a substantial deposit per person per holiday. This may seem a lot but this is then paid to the coach company and therefore in the event of any person being unable to come, the coach firm has the money for the coach etc. The person can then claim through our insurance (apart from £50 premium) and the holiday is not in jeopardy for anybody else going due to people dropping out.

We usually take around 20 to 25 people and a number of scooters, wheelchairs etc. Space on the coach is limited therefore you must book a space at the outset. We can take people confined to wheelchairs on the coach and clamp them in but again spaces MUST be booked beforehand.

Everyone tends to help each other and join in. Of course if you want to go off on your own once we get to the destination you can but please tell us. We usually arrange to go out every day on the bus/coach to various places. If you come alone you will soon make friends.
